Annie Leibovitz Lists Her Upper West Side Apartment at a Discounted $8.6 Million

Annie Leibovitz is letting go of her dreamy Upper West Side co-op apartment. The famed portrait photographer bought the duplex, which is located on the fifth and sixth floors of a 12-story building dating back to 1910, for $11.25 million in 2014. The location was chosen for its proximity to school for Leibovitz’s three daughters. With her children grown up, the Library of Congress-certified Living Legend has listed the four-bedroom and three-bedroom home for $8.6 million, per the New York Times.

“The apartment is now too big for me,” Annie Leibovitz said in an email to the Times. “I live and work downtown,” she explained, “and our house upstate is now our family home,” referring to the West Village apartment that she bought last year and the property that she maintains in Rhinebeck, New York.

The unit is a duplex with an elegant front entryway.

The 3,500-square-foot dwelling, which boasts picture window views of Central Park, is in a celebrity-favorite building that Robert De Niro, Lorne Michaels, and Paul Simon have all called home. During her tenancy, Leibovitz redid the kitchen and added an office and a library wall with a sliding ladder in the living room. Enviable prewar details like tall ceilings, inlaid oak floors, a winding staircase with a wooden banister, and original moldings are still intact.
