2019
Garner began the year 2019 as a newly minted single lady, and, after she and Affleck sold their marital home, the mom of three seemed to be headed back to Brentwood, following a $7.9 million purchase in the area—but Garner never moved in. Instead, the humble cottage built in 1930 on 0.4 acres of land was demolished to make way for the ground-up construction of the new manor in which Garner and her kids presently live.
And, if one tears down their just-bought home, where then do they go? To the ultimate rental, of course. Garner and her family wound up staying in the Pacific Palisades, renting a $13.86 million Cape Cod–style mansion for the duration of their new home’s construction. The 10,568-square-foot all-white neoclassical dwelling had a hefty portico with a cheerful red front door, bay windows, six bedrooms, six full bathrooms along with two half bathrooms, and the usual celeb-home trappings—a gym, sauna, pool with Baja shelf, games room, crafts room, and the 1,000-bottle wine cellar. At the time of her occupation, Zillow rental estimates gave the stately home a $53,271-per-month price tag.
Despite only being there for a short period, the 13 Going on 30 actress made lots of memories at the home, including filming several episodes of her Pretend Cooking Show there during the pandemic. “I only really make things on the show that I make all the time,” the “pretend” cook told AD. “Every now and then, I’ll make something that is a little bit of a surprise to me.”

Although Garner has not given an official tour of her new Brentwood home, fans are able to steal small peeks when the Golden Globe Winner shares her life on social media. Pictures reveal an abode filled with natural materials like wood beams and wood-plank flooring. There is a mix of white and wood-panel cabinets in the kitchen, and even a wood-panel refrigerator, giving the space a real country vibe. One bathroom reveals the home’s high ceilings with a marble-clad, glass-wall shower that seems to stretch forever, along with a stand-alone soaking tub that sits right in front of large casement windows with views of a hedged backyard. Other images reveal Garner’s new home gym, a fireplace and a dedicated corner nearby for her cat, a huge area where the movie star executes fittings for her numerous red-carpet events, a large study filled with books, and a cozy reading corner with Tiffany-style stained glass windows. “Isn’t this the prettiest stained glass? I feel lucky to get to live with it,” the Capital One spokesperson commented in one video. And, of course, a Garner home would not be complete without a vegetable garden, of which the star has shared several images.
