Construction began on the skyscraper back in 2012. The plan was to make it the second-tallest manmade building in the world after the Tokyo Skytree, rising 636 meters over Wuhan. Sadly, this iconic skyscraper has had several delays and was even modified in the middle of construction.

The Chinese government requested a significant modification of the skyscraper so that it would not violate airspace limitations. It forced the suspension of construction when it reached the 96th story. Now the skyscraper is almost in its finishing phase. It will surpass all previous skyscrapers in 2023 when it eventually opens its doors.

Greenland Shandong International Financial Center, China (428-meters)

The constructors were planning to complete it by 2022. However, there was a delay in the construction process. The new Greenland Shandong International Financial Center was a design product by Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill (SOM).  Its construction will complete by 2023. This firm is responsible for iconic buildings including the Burj Khalifa and One World Trade Center.

The Iconic Tower, which has the audacious moniker of “Crown Jewel,” is one of 20 new skyscrapers in this desert region. In the newly established capital of Egypt, Africa’s first extremely tall skyscraper is rapidly taking shape.

The building is in its final phase and going to complete its construction in 2023. The building will rise from the financial center of the New Administrative Capital and be largely filled with offices.

However, the tower had a variety of engineering difficulties. It need to lay foundations on soft desert soil and extremely hot working conditions. The answer was to continuously pour 18,500 cubic meters of concrete for 38 hours to build the biggest foundation of its kind in the Middle East.

Hengfeng Guiyang Center Tower 1, China (373-meters)

The structure has many stories and a helipad. The Hengfeng Guiyang Center is a five-tower mega complex in Guiyang, China. The planning team and the engineers are hoping to complete this project in 2023.

Interestingly, the 401-meter Guiyang International Finance Center holds the record for the highest building. Despite its enormous height, it will only be Guiyang’s second tallest skyscraper. Inside are luxury residences, retail and entertainment venues, and office space.
